Install WPS Office on Mac (Apple silicon)

Kingsoft ships a native build for Apple silicon and Intel. The usual Mac-only snags are quarantine flags, folder permissions, and fonts that never lived on macOS.

Devices including a laptop on a cafe table
  1. Download from wps.com/download (Mac) or the Mac App Store.
  2. Open the .dmg or App Store install. Move WPS to Applications.
  3. On first launch, System Settings → Privacy & Security if macOS blocked the app. Only continue for Kingsoft.
  4. When Writer asks for folder access, allow Documents and Downloads - otherwise cloud-synced files look empty.
  5. Open a .docx from email as a test. If fonts substitute, install the missing font or change the style.

Apple silicon notes

Kingsoft advertises native support for M1–M4. If Activity Monitor shows an Intel process under Rosetta, you grabbed an old build - download again from the official page.

iCloud and Desktop & Documents sync

Files that are “online only” may not open until macOS downloads them. Click the cloud icon in Finder first. This is an Apple behavior, not a WPS bug.

Fonts and iCloud

Windows-only typefaces substitute badly. Install the missing font or change the style before a client review. Online-only iCloud files need a Finder download first - that is Apple, not a WPS bug.

If Activity Monitor shows Rosetta on an M-series Mac, you grabbed an old Intel build. Download again from the official Mac button.

WPS Office for Mac: M1, M2, M3, M4

Kingsoft advertises native Apple silicon. If Activity Monitor shows Rosetta, download again from the official Mac button. Grant Documents and Downloads access or iCloud files look empty. Online-only iCloud items need a Finder download first.

Gatekeeper

A first launch from the official disk image can show a standard macOS unidentified-developer sheet. Confirm the download URL was wps.com. Do not override Gatekeeper on a file that arrived in a Telegram archive.
